I hate to say this but BTV is no longer the center of my TV universe. I was fun when the cable company was letting in a good selection of clear QAM. Once I saw the difference then I could not get enough HD. I went to the darkside of the cablebox. Of course AT&T helped by cutting back my third tier internet service to the $14.95 level for 6 months and kept letting me pay for the Elite service!
We got the package deal and TV was fun again! BTV is not dead yet but has taken a backseat. It still records the basic and extended channels. The cablebox and the external drive handle the HD recordings. If cablecards were supported the matter would be different.
My PC is still the core of entertainment system but not in the way was originally configured. It was fun while it lasted.

Voxel,
Have you considered the Hauppauge HD-PVR as a tuner? I use that with my cablebox and get excellent HD channels (and all other channels for that matter) on my HTPC.
