Enhanced DirecTV program guide data in Beyond TV 4.8.1

The latest version of Beyond TV added a feature that some people have asked me questions about. The release notes listed this line item:

- DirecTV Pay Per View Guide Data

With Beyond TV 4.8.1, we’ve added enhanced program guide data for DirecTV users. Before we added this feature, those of you using Beyond TV to record from DirecTV may have noticed that large portions of DirecTV’s pay-per-view channels would show up as just a continuous stream of “Pay-Per-View” entries. For example, this is what a portion of your DirecTV program guide might have looked like before:

Now, with our new DirecTV data feed, you’ll get actual program information with more accurate start and stop times. For example, NBA League Pass subscribers will get information about which teams are playing. Same thing for most other sports packages on DirecTV. And pay-per-view movies now show up correctly in the program guide. Here’s the same chunk of the program guide after we deployed the enhanced DirecTV data:

This is not the case for DirecTV’s MLB Extra Innings. Many of the channels for it are incorrectly listed still as NFLHD, which all say “SIGN OFF”, and the channels that do list correctly as MLB only occasionally list the game information.

Is it possible for this to be fixed? The fixing of the NFL channels would really be a good step forward, if nothing else.

I am planning to upgrade my OS from Windows XP Pro to Vista Business (32bit) and have DirecTV as my Satellite TV provider. My question is how will I be able to setup the “Program Guide” and “Setup Recordings” using DirecTV? With digital cable (Cox), I really did not have to use a cable box but DirecTV requires a box to get the signals. Please provide me with any information or links to fulfill my task.

    Thank you,

I have recently tried the beyondTV software for my ati HDTV card. I was impressed generally with the interface, but, I was wondering if I just missed some option during setup where I could see ratings (4star, 3star etc.) in the program guide. ATI software had originally used the gemstar software which made it easy for chosing which movies on Turner classic to record. I saw no easy reference to ratings with this software. Am I missing it? Thank you, Jack
