Schedule a recording away from home
April 12th, 2007 at 12:12 pm by RakeshI’ve been meaning to write a blog posting about Beyond TV’s remote recording feature that lets you schedule recordings while you’re away from home, but there are only so many hours in the day, right?
Well, lucky for me Brent Evans has gone and done the work for me in his blog posting on how to schedule recordings from your mobile phone or the Internet.
Here are my cliff notes:
- Using the web, login at http://www.snapstream.net/
- Using your mobile phone, login at http://mobile.snapstream.net/
- Don’t have a login? Re-run the Beyond TV setup wizard (you’ll find it in your start menu) and create one on this page.
This is one of Beyond TV’s capabilities that I feel we’ve always underpromoted so I’m glad to finally be getting this out there. If you didn’t know about it before, hope you like it!

This is one of my most favorite features of BeyondTV. Even better, it is built-in to BeyondTV so no extra plugins to configure.

This is a feature that gets heavy use from me.
I’m going to miss knowing whatever I schedule remotely will be recorded. (My PC now sleeps when its not recording and doesn’t have any work to do)
Feature Request: Make Beyond TV wake the system on the top of every hour to check for remote recordings and any other maintenance. (Like Windows SideShow

This is the main reason I went with BTV in the 1st place.

I used to use the mobile remote, but since installing V4.7 (which really shouldn’t be related and may, in fact, be coincidental) I can no longer get the mobile.snapstream.net site to accept my login credentials. They definitely work at the main website. Anyone else with this problem? Any help?

I found the likely answer to my problem. It was a change at my wireless carrier that likely did it. They cannot post from very long URLs, so I’m unable to login. See the discussion at:
