Give your Beyond TV a new look
January 24th, 2007 at 6:37 pm by RakeshI’m always delighted and surprised by the SnapStream Community. They do an amazing job helping one another in the SnapStream Forums, they’re an endless supply of new feature ideas, and they create some pretty cool add-ons to our products.
The other day I realized that while we weren’t looking, the community had gone and created a bunch of extremely cool skins for Beyond TV. Here’s a sampling:
Take a swim with the dolphins:

Any Matrix fans out there? You’ll appreciate these two Beyond TV skins:

And, finally, you can really never be ready early enough for “Talk Like a Pirate Day” so get your Beyond TV Pirates skins now, complete with a skull and crossbones icon for the “delete file” action in Beyond TV

Browse through more Beyond TV skins here in the Beyond TV Downloads section of the SnapStream Forums.
Finally, are you wondering how to change your Beyond TV skin? Each skin has its own specific set of directions, but generally, it involves replacing the FSMEDIA directory in the \Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV directory.

If only BTV4 had a real skinning engine and a real plugin engine… Beyond Media has that, but it’s a dead product. Go figure…

Product has improved reliability since I last tested it but has a way to go to be really efficient. So much stuff is installed and remains running when ever the TV is on. I will wait until a “mean and lean” version is available. This is especially important since I’m moving to Linux

it’s a shame they don’t combine the power of Beyond Media, and BTV. with the ability to customize menus, and functions, like MEEDIO.

Weren’t they going to at one point come out with a version of BeyondMedia and BTV combined together?
I seem to recall reading that a while ago in the forums…and for those who owned copies of both…those users would get a free upgrade or something….

All I can figure is that the SnapStream team is pretty small. I can’t imagine any other reason for how long it takes for things to happen.
Now before anybody jumps all over me, I’m not complaining about anyone or any of the products. I am a die-hard user of BeyondTV and Beyond Media and have been for years now. I really wish the two products were integrated into one seamless interface.

Totally unfussed. Beyond TV is so superb and despite being a software junkie who likes tweaking every thing under the sun why change something that works to perfection. I don’t know what others use BTV for but I watch TV streamed around my Home / Office so I don’t care what colour the interface is. It does the job to perfection hence why i’ve used it since day 1 (or maybe day 2)
