How about using Slingbox to change the channels on you cable box instead of the IR BLASTER since
1. the SlingBOX is already hooked up to the Cable box
2. The Sling box is on your computer or Computer network
and BTV is on your computer or computer network

what is needed is a way for BTV to change the channels on the Slingbox and for that matter you might even not need a PVR card since the Shows are being sent into your computer via the Slingbox

any ideas?

I have to say I used to use beyond but I find slingbox offers me the capability of watching live events from anywhere in the world and the display is totally cool. My cable DTV let's me record anything I really want and my blackberry acting as a modem let's me plug it into my laptop and watch live tv or my DTV content via the slingbox. I was watching the live masters golf on the Long Island Railroad. People were going how do you do that? SO tell me how can beyond make this any better?

I just ordered a DLink MediaLounge to see how it works. By what I read, putting a few MediaLounge devices in the house with a terabyte or more of storage space will make a nice A/V distribution center.

I used the TV output of my video card and connected it to a RF modulator and I pipe it thru my house on channel 3. Works ok and didn't cost much.

I was wondering if there is a way to stream BTV to a tv without using a computer, Snapstream should invest in creating such a wireless devise.

I've found that Orb is alright. It works, but I think the picture size would be larger from a Slingbox over the same network connection based on demos and pictures I've seen. Also, I haven't tried streaming LiveTV over Orb since I didn't want to setup my tuners with it. I already have all that done in BTV. Why risk any conflicts and whatnot? Would be interesting to get a Slingbox and compare it with Orb though.

I am confused as to why you would use Slingbox to stream media from BeyondTV rather than Orb? The reason that you would buy Slingbox is to provide an interface from your content which is on A/V equipment such as a TV tuner, cable box, sat box, TiVo, etc. to computers and the internet.

With BTV your content is already on the PC which is most of the battle. Why not use Orb is stream directly from BTV? You save $200 as well!
