Beyond TV 4.4 is now shipping

I wanted to let you know that we just released the latest update to Beyond TV, version 4.4, this afternoon. Read the release notes here. There isn’t a lot of glittery new stuff in this version, but a number of under-the-hood fixes. All part of our commitment to deliver the most reliable and easiest to user PVR product for the PC.
The one other thing worth mentioned about this release is that the Web Admin, for the first time, includes contributions from our community. We opened up the Web Admin source code under a shared source license with the last release of Beyond TV. Thanks to bradpvr and ccarlin (and, er, anyone else that I left out…) for their code updates and checkins!
As usual, current Beyond TV owners can download the upgrade for free. And if you buy or download Beyond TV starting now, you’ll be getting the latest release. Enjoy!

Another update that is needed is to have the ability to re-size the main window when it running in full mode. Current versions require the user to go to the guide view and re-size from that page. At least thats the only way I have found out how to do it.

Does this version support digital TV in Windows XP 64-bit? I have a Fusion5 and the setup program would not allow me to continue the setup.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I have been recording duplicate episodes of many of my shows because I didn’t want to delete my entire schedule and set it back up to change from”ALL EPISODES” to “NEW EPISODES”. This feature was a huge annoyance of mine, and is fixed. Thank you!

Upgrade at your own risk. After upgrading I began receiving an error upon trying to update my listings: “Data download from SnapStream.Net failed.”

Will this blow away my version 3 serial number like the useless “upgrade” I purchased for version 4, so I cannot go back to the old version without talking to Julie in the orders department? And will you refuse to give me another upgrade key, and expect me to pay twice?

Any help on watching NFL – it is ‘jumpy’, or ‘block movement’ — during the HD camera shots only. The normal commercials and booth shots seem fine, it is just the shots on the field. Is it just my setup? Seemed fine under 4.2 or whatever I had before I did 4.4 (know at least skipped 4.3).
Changing the settings I can find for playback make small differences – mostly worse than the default snapstream decoder.
Is this something with the local broadcast station even?
Thanks! Overall this is good product. The change from all to ‘new episodes’ will be enjoyed (feature request: non-recorded episodes selection so it will grab repeats of a show if not on file already), and have seen the download error message mentioned. Thanks again.

So, I downloaded the new version and I get this message: Sorry, but we were anable to start viewing Live TV. The TV feed may be disconnected or turned to an invalid channel. Do you want to go to the SnapStream.net program guide to select another channel?
Well, I’m not disconnected. My channels are valid and it wont go to ANY channel. grrr…
Last time it took a month to fix from the new download.

Will this product support the ATI TV Wonder Elite. How good is the tuner card that bundles with the software compared to ATI TV Wonder Elite.

Joel, Beyond TV 4.4 supports the ATI TV Wonder Elite now. We bundle Beyond TV in our store with the PVR-150 and the PVR-150MCE. I’d say the PVR-150 is better just because it has an IR blaster with code library. The ATI TV Wonder Elite, though, is supposed to have better image processing and accordingly a better quality image, but I’ve honestly never seen this difference myself. I’ve only seen it written about in reviews. I’d say the PVR-150MCE is pretty close to the TV Wonder Elite in terms of overall quality.

I have my main MCE box that I d/l and installed BTV4.4 on; BIG mistake. Not only did it cause immediate problems (i.e. it would not keep the video folders on reboot), it destabilized my entrie system. When I uninstalled it and reinstalled BTV4.3, a previously super stable revision, I was left with a system that frequently locks up either the BTV engine, the system or both. I have missed a number of shows in the last few weeks because I did not check the machine to see it locked up yet again. The funny (not really) thing is that it seems to only happed at night and usually after the 10PM tapings begin (not the busiest taping time of our day).
And yes, I tried to get help from support and got some noob giving me assinine advice that I simply gave up speaking to them further. Our system will remain on BTV version 4.3 until Snapstream does something about the problems in 4.4 that it introduced. You guys are looking a lot like Micro$oft to me right now and that is NOT a good thing. Please restore our faith in your product and your company.
